Get started with Summarix

From sign-up to your first AI report, then scheduled emails, credits and your team. Each step links to the page in the dashboard where you do it.

1. Create your account #

Create your free account with Google, Facebook, or your work email and a password (at least 10 characters, with a letter and a number). You start on the Free plan, and no card is needed.

If your email address needs confirming (always when you sign up with a password), we email you a link. Until you click it, the dashboard shows a reminder with a Resend link button.

Protect your account with two-factor sign-in: in Settings → Two-factor sign-in, scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator and others) and keep the recovery codes somewhere safe.

2. Set up your workspace #

Everything in Summarix (data, reports, schedules, API keys and billing) belongs to a workspace. One is created for you when you sign up, and you are its Owner.

  • Give it your business's name in Settings → Workspace.
  • On the Professional and Business plans, add your logo and brand colour under White-label branding. They appear on exported HTML and PDF reports.
  • The owner can require every member to use two-factor sign-in, also in Settings.
  • If someone invites you to their workspace, switch between workspaces with the selector at the top of the sidebar.

3. Verify your business #

Before a new workspace can create reports, connect data or make purchases, we verify the business behind it. Until then the dashboard shows the verification screen; your account settings stay available. The owner or an admin completes it in Business verification:

  1. Choose the business type: a registered company or close corporation (registered with CIPC), or a sole proprietor.
  2. Enter the registered company name and CIPC registration number, or for a sole proprietor the owner's full name or trading name, and save.
  3. Upload the documents below: PDF, PNG or JPG, up to 10 MB each.
DocumentWhat we needNeeded from
CIPC registration certificateYour company registration certificate (e.g. CoR14.3 or CK1).Companies and close corporations

As soon as everything is uploaded, it goes to our team for review. We email you the outcome, usually within one business day. If something needs changing, the page says which document to upload again.

4. Add your first data #

Reports are built from a dataset: a table of rows and named columns. There are three ways to create one:

WayWhereNotes
Upload a fileDataCSV or Excel (.xlsx), up to 25 MB. The first worksheet is used.
Connect a databaseData → Connect a databaseSQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL, on the Starter plan and above. Use a read-only login, test the connection, then save the results of a SELECT query as a dataset.
Import from an appIntegrations → Add a sourceGoogle Sheets, Stripe, Shopify, HubSpot and more, refreshed hourly, daily or weekly. Or push rows from Zapier, Make, n8n or Power Automate.

Editors and above can upload data; database connections and integrations are added by an owner or admin. Your plan sets how many of each you can have. Sending data in covers every option, including the API.

5. Generate your first report #

  1. Click New AI report on the dashboard, or Report next to a dataset in Data.
  2. Pick the dataset. Optionally say what to focus on, for example “Compare revenue by region and highlight underperforming products”.
  3. Click Generate report. The page follows each step live: profiling the data, choosing KPIs and charts, computing metrics and writing insights.

The finished report has an executive summary, key metrics, charts, insights, recommendations and notes on data quality. The AI chooses what to measure and writes the narrative; every figure is computed from your data.

  • Drag the widgets to reorder them, or hide the ones you don't need.
  • Click Ask AI to chat with the data behind the report (Starter plan and above).
  • Download it as PDF, HTML, CSV or JSON, or print it.

If a report fails, its build log shows the step that failed. Check that the dataset has clear column headers and numeric columns, then try again. Your plan sets how many reports you can create each month, and the dashboard shows how many you've used.

6. Schedule and share reports #

Scheduled reports (Starter plan and above): in Schedules, click New schedule and choose the dataset, daily, weekly or monthly, a time (SAST) and the recipients. Each run generates a new report and emails it with the PDF and HTML attached.

Share a link: on a report, click Share, choose when the link expires (7, 30 or 90 days, or never) and click Create link. Anyone with the link can view the report without signing in; chat, data and exports stay private. You can see how often it was viewed and revoke it at any time. To share on your own domain, link it in Domains.

Send results to your team's tools: in Integrations, click Add a destination to post finished reports to Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord or a webhook.

7. Credits and billing #

Plans. The workspace owner changes the plan in Billing. Pay by card through the secure CentraPoint checkout, or by EFT: you get the bank details and a payment reference, upload your proof of payment, and the plan starts once the payment is confirmed. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Compare the plans on the pricing page.

AI credits. AI work (writing reports, chat and call summaries) uses credits. Every plan includes a monthly allowance, and purchased credits are used once it runs out. Owners and admins buy credit packs in AI & credits by card or EFT; purchased credits never expire. The same page sets up scheduled or automatic top-ups, or connects your own AI provider key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and others) so no credits are used.

Invoices. Each payment's invoice is emailed to you and listed under Billing → Invoices. Owners and admins set the name and address invoices are made out to under Invoice details.

Purchases are available once your business is verified (step 3).

8. Invite your team #

In Team, an owner or admin enters a colleague's email, picks a role and clicks Invite. They get an email with a link to join, and you can also copy the link and send it yourself. Each plan includes a number of seats; the Team page shows how many are used.

RoleCan
OwnerEverything, including billing
AdminManage the team, connections, API keys and branding
EditorUpload data, run queries, create reports and schedules
ViewerView reports and chat with data

The owner can hand the workspace to another member with Make owner, and members can leave a workspace from the same page.

9. Getting help #

  • In Support, click New ticket and tell us what happened. We usually reply within one business day, by email and on the ticket. You can also email .
